What organs can you donate?
The range of the organs which can be donated is very large. From one of the paired organs (kidneys and lungs) to a part of the liver, pancreas or intestine. The alive most popular organ donors are those of kidney and liver. Obviously, the options when the donor is dead are bigger including both of the paired organs, heart (only brain death donors) whole liver, pancreas and intestine and also, added recently to the list: hands and faces. Apart from this, donors can donate different tissues. Because of the wide list of possible organs which can be donated, it is said that a donor can save even 8 lives!
Nowadays the most frequent transplant is the kidney's one. In Spain, during 2018, 3310 transplant of this type were carried out (1.3% more than in 2017). Of which 290 came from an alive donor.
